Local departure by coach, then on to Thoresby Hall in Nottinghamshire for a four-night stay.
Today we will travel to Lincoln, with its tangle of cobbled medieval streets filled with high street shops and boutiques side-by-side.
Its impressive castle and cathedral are situated high above the city and are well worth the walk up ‘Steep Hill’ and you’ll be rewarded with truly magnificent architecture. First settled in by the Romans, then invaded by the Vikings, the city's mini-districts are a mish-mash of modern shops and cafés and historic, cultural remnants.
This morning we visit Bakewell - nestled in the glorious Peak District. Idyllically situated on the banks of the River Wye, and famous for its delicious pudding, this pretty town has so much to offer!
Later, we return to Thoresby Hall where the remainder of the day is at leisure so you can relax in the scenic surroundings of Thoresby Hall and enjoy Warner’s activities and entertainment - perhaps take a dip in the indoor-heated swimming pool, try something new like archery or a spot of croquet on the lawns*!
Visit Nottingham, a lively city with lots to offer. Explore the city centre or discover some of the city’s historic attractions associated with legendary Robin Hood.
Towering over the city, Nottingham Castle is the 'jewel' in Nottingham's crown, or why not visit Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem, said to be England's oldest pub.

If only Shearings covered more Warner Hotels, provision of a map plus details of any attractions at each of your day trips would help, this is not a criticism

We have just come back from our holiday at Warner Thoresby Hall Hotel and Spa and I give it a five star 🌟 experience. This is our first Warner experience and our second Signature holiday this year from Shearings and we must say we couldn’t fault it at all. The partnership with Shearings and Warner hotels are a match for their organisations and their attention to detail. From our transfer to Rugby services to our hotel was hassle free, even coming back. This is why we book Shearings for our staycation. The hotel itself is magnificent, the grounds are just jaw dropping, I felt like we were staying in Downton Abbey 😅. Our room was spacious, clean and had the bonus of having a fridge. The only downside was the couple staying below were both chainsmokers, so we couldn’t even open our window because all we could smell was their cigarette smoke and the noise of their constant coughing. Special mention to Sandra, who looked after us while tucking in to our delicious 3 course meal at the Sherwood Restaurant. So much choice for everyone including people with dietary needs. Jason, our driver, was very careful in his driving and made sure we all came back safe and sound from the included excursions to Lincoln, Bakewell and Nottingham. The weather was fairly kind to us, so that made all the difference too. We will definitely be booking more holidays with Shearings and be trying out their Signature Collections. Thanks for creating such a varied holiday collection for your valued customers even for young couple like ourselves.
